Pay a visit to Aoshima Shrine
The shrine is located on a small island surrounded by corrugated rocks known as the “Devil’s Washboard,” and is believed to have existed for more than 1,200 years. The shrine is covered with billow trees, giving it a mystical appearance. The shrine is dedicated to the Japanese mythology characters Yamasachihiko and Hikohohodemi no Mikoto, and is said to bring good luck in marriage and easy childbirth.

The symbol of this park is Ahu Akivi, the only seven moai statues in the world to have received special permission from the Easter Island Elders’ Association.

Located at the southernmost tip of Nichinan Kaigan National Park and protruding into the Pacific Ocean, visitors can admire the Misaki horses, which are one of Japan’s native horses and have been designated a national natural treasure since the Edo period, and have been inhabited by samurai horses that have become wild.
